I upgraded to an Extra class license on April 15, 2000. Since then I have purchased a Yaesu FT-100 and ATAS-100 to use in my truck for HF, VHF, and UHF. The FT-100 is quite an elaborate rig, therefore requiring quite an elaborate installation. Let me start by saying that not all of what I did is required. You don't need to remote-mount the face, or use an external speaker. These things just make having the radio in the car a little bit more practical by getting the bulk of the equipment out of the line of sight (or in the way of passengers).
