Here are some pictures that I took on my trip out west during the summer of 2000:

This is a picture I took from a rest area in North Dakota. The rest areas in Detroit sure don't have views like this. :)
This waterfall was just off the side of Bear Tooth Pass in Montana.
These next 3 pictures were all taken along Bear Tooth pass in Montana/Wyoming.
Here a pic of the river that runs through Yellowstone National Park.
This is the closest I cared to get to a baby black bear that I saw moving around in the woods at Yellowstone.
Here is a nice shot of the "Grand Canyon of Yellowstone." Not to be confused with the real Grand Canyon seen below.
This elk walked across the road in front of me, so I got out and took a few pictures of it. It obviously wasn't too concerned about me being as close as I was.
The famous waterfall in Yellowstone.
I took this picture from a turnout along the Pacific Coast Highway on the coast of Oregon.
Here is a shot from a turnout on the P.C.H. in Carmel Highlands, CA.
This whale died on the beach of northern California, near the redwoods. I stumbled across it while I was walking along the beach.
Pictures don't do them justice - The Redwoods of Northern California.
Here's a shot of San Francisco from the far side of the Golden Gate.
Here is a shot of the bridge and the city from farther away.
I took this in the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I was surprised to find birds in an 'aquarium.'
I couldn't get a very good shot of these two otters through the glass. They had a lady out there feeding them fish in upside-down frisbees.
Giraffes are so goofy looking.
This is the baby panda at the San Diego Zoo. Supposedly there are only 5 pandas in the US, on load from China. 3 of them are at the San Diego Zoo and are being studied very heavily.
Here is the female panda. The male was hiding when I finally made it through the line to take a picture.
New York, NY in Las Vegas, NV.
I took the 'hard hat' tour of the Hoover Dam. They take you through all of the tunnels, and down to the face of the dam. You get to keep the hat. :)
These are the hydro-electric generators that are inside the dam. These things were huge!
This is what the tunnels inside the dam look like. I couldn't stand straight up, and I am not even 6' tall.
This is a shot from the end of one of the tunnels. This vent is on the face of the dam. You get a pretty good idea of how high the dam is, because this vent is not even half way up the face. When you are looking at the picture of the face of the dam, this vent is the upper right of the 4.
I thought this was a really cool looking tree, growing on the wall of the Grand Canyon (the real one, this time).
Another shot of the Grand Canyon.
Here are two shots I took of a gorge just NE of the Grand Canyon.
Bryce Canyon is my favorite canyon, by far. I hiked around the trails through the canyon for about 4 hours, and these are a few of the shots I took.
I hope you enjoyed the pics! I took about 520 total, but I narrowed it down to these...
Feel free to email me if you have any questions or comments about these pictures.
